Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy Workshop for Online Educators

I developed an online workshop for an association of educators attending a virtual conference focused on advancements in online learning.

During the workshop, I provided a brief overview of Bloom’s Taxonomy, the 1950s-era framework for classifying learning objectives from lower to higher-order thinking skills. I then explored the evolution of the taxonomy, particularly the 2008 adaptation by Andrew Churches, which introduced Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy. This adaptation added verbs to address forms of learning and creating that align with the digital age, providing educators with the language to apply this tool in contemporary instructional design.

Together, we examined how this framework can be used to improve existing online courses, helping educators to refine learning goals and design digital content that fosters deeper engagement and cognitive development in today’s learners.
