Exploring the Role of Instructional Designers in Higher Education

I designed and led a workshop for a large association of higher education institutions, focusing on the critical role of instructional designers in shaping effective learning experiences. The session explored how people learn, emphasizing cognitive information processing and other key learning theories that inform instructional design.

To reinforce these concepts, we concluded with an interactive case study activity, where participants analyzed real-world instructional challenges and identified the learning theories used to address them. This hands-on approach allowed attendees to apply theoretical knowledge, recognize patterns in instructional design, and deepen their understanding of how learning sciences drive course development in higher education.
